Importance and general aspects:
It was built in the early Ottoman period (16th century)10. The walls of the bath are built of rubble and dimension stones. In addition to its usual features such as cold and hot sections, the bath, whose dome is made of brick, has a warm section, unlike other baths11. It is also known as a double bath, as it is built in the form of an adjacent double bath, a men’s section in the west and a women’s section in the east. It is the biggest and best preserved bath of Antalya12. Today it is used as a commercial enterprise such as a cafe and a store. Right next to it is a small covered bazaar with many different shops.
The owners of the company, which undertook the restoration of the bath in 2004, stated that they were able to survive the building materials and techniques of the period and used “khorasan mortar”, that is, egg whites instead of cement. Accordingly, they said that they used up to 100000 eggs to complete the restoration13.
