Importance and general aspects:

Kırkgözhan is a historical caravanserai and located in the district of Doşemealtı, one of the central districts of Antalya. The caravanserai takes its name from Kırkgöz, the old name of Doşemealtı district. Kırkgöz means forty-springs. This name originated from the fact that there were too many water resources in this area32. It was built in 1236-1246 by II. Gıyaseddin Keyhusrev Bin Keykubat, who is Sultan of Seljuk Dynasty33. Rubble stone walls are the building material of the caravanserai. The fillings between the porches of the portico belong to the Ottoman period34. The last restoration of the caravanserai was completed in 200935. It is one of Turkey’s best preserved caravanserai. Today it is used for various events such as wedding, meeting, exhibition, and movie.
